  About the Apartment

 

The apartment, which is on the second floor, is available all year round. It has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and sleeps 4/6 people.

On entry to the hallway, directly facing you is the bedroom with 2 bunk beds (sleeps 4) and wardrobe and storage.

As you pass through the entrance hall there is a sepearte WC and bathroom with shower to your right plus an additional storage cupboard.

The hall leads to the bright open living area which has a fully fitted kichenette with fridge, micro-wave, separate oven and hot plates, dining area and double sofa bed.

From the far end of the apartment you gain access to the balcony. The double glazed door and windows provide much of the natural light and, from the second floor, the southeast facing balcony overlooks the piste and provides beautiful views of Mont Blanc.

About the Area

The apartment is located in Le Bettex which is situated above the small savoyard market town of St Gervais at 1400 meters. It is linked by gondola or road and is at the heart of the Evasion ski area, with 300km of pistes and a snow park.

You don't have to go too far to pick up the chairlift and telecabine to Mont d'Arbois which are located approximately 400 meters away.

The resort has 2 ski schools and a nursery for children between 6 months and 6 years. There are ski hire shops, bars, restaurants and also a small shop for your provisions.

Saint Gervais is a 19th century spa resort situated at the foot of Mont-Blanc. It is 70km from Geneva, 24km from Chamonix, 11km from Megeve, 10km from Sallanches and 4km from Le Fayet. It offers all the beauty of a small Savoyard town with traditional buildings, pedestrian areas and, being a year round lived in village it is full of life with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Market on Thursday morning, on the square, with free indoor car park, 300 spaces, next to the Tourist Office.

Le Fayet is at the entrance to the resort and it is here you will find the Spa that has benefited from the Mont-Blanc waters since 1806. There is also a new Casino with a games room for your enjoyment. Market on Wednesday morning on the Post Office car park. It is also in Le Fayet where you will find the Mont-Blanc tramway (station also in St Gervais), France's highest rack and pinion railway. It transports you through wooded glades, mountain meadows and tunnels before reaching the glaciers just below Mont-Blanc (in summer only). In winter the train terminates on the Bellevue plateau allowing skiers and walkers to take advantage of the Les Houches ski area.

 

Le Bettex caters for all levels of skiers with 137 slopes, 24 green, 42 blue, 52 red, 19 black and 247 snow cannons. Although being part of such a huge ski domain, it is a resort that has yet to be discovered, you might easily find you have the slopes to yourselves. (Out of school holidays of course!).

People who have discovered this area do not then want to ski anywhere else. In the summer there are a great number of activities for all the family. The months of May June and September are a hikers paradise with good weather and few people about. July and August are more for families, with white water rafting, adventure parks in the trees, paragliding, swimming, tennis, golf, mountain biking and horseriding and much more.

Megeve is linked to St-Gervais via Mont d'Arbois cablecar. It is a 13th century traditional town with a beautiful medieval centre. The village heart is built around the medieval church and restored buildings set in a traffic free pedestrianised main square where brightly painted sleigh taxis can be hired and driven by local farmers. The four streets branching off the main square are lined with designer boutiques which attract non-skiers and there are many upmarket restaurants and bars. There is a market on Friday mornings. Free buses link the middle of town with the lifts and coaches run to other nearby resorts covered on the Evasion Mont Blanc ski pass.

Chamonix is a traditional Alpine town with a genuine Alpine atmosphere which is lively all year round. It is set amongst breathtaking scenery at the foot of Mont Blanc (Europe's highest peak at 4807 metres). Mountaineers have been visiting the area for two centuries. It has a high reputation amongst skiers, who have been coming here since 1893, many for the challenging off-piste skiing or to ski the "Vallee Blanche". The skiing is divided into 5 main areas which are all linked by the ski bus service which is included in the lift pass. There are 150kms of piste in the Chamonix/Argentiere area, 51 blue (easy) runs, 190 red (intermediate) runs and 21 black (difficult) runs.Chamonix has a large range of sporting and leisure facilities including a sports centre with swimming pool and ice rink, indoor tennis/squash, 8-lane bowling alley, cinema (3 screen), fitness centre with sauna, massage, turkish bath and solarium. There is also available para-gliding, heli-skiing and sleigh rides. There are over 100 restaurants in Chamonix to suit all tastes and pockets and also a great number of bars for Apres-ski. Les Houches is situated at the entrance to the Chamonix Valley and is connected to the St Gervais ski area via the Mont Blanc tramway. All levels of skiers are catered for which 50km of runs with magnificent views. It is sheltered by the Mont Blanc massif and is a typical mountain village with a pretty church and wooden Savoyard farmhouses around. There are a number of bars and restaurants and buses run to and from Chamonix all evening. Monday morning market. Les Houches is the regular venue for the Chamonix world cup downhill but is best suited to families, beginners and intermediates with easy runs at the top of the mountain.
Combloux facing Mont-Blanc is only minutes from ski resorts such as Megeve, Chamonix and St Gervais, and offers 62km of trails for skiing and snowboarding. It is an authentic mountain village with alpine architecture of stone and wood which has maintained the charm and beauty of the traditions of the French Alps. There is direct access on to ski the slopes in Megève, and St Gervais, with 250km of trails. Combloux has two new health and fitness areas where you can enjoy swimming, sauna, hammam, Jacuzzi, massages and beauty treatments. There is a market on Tuesday mornings.
Sallanches is located in the heart of the French Alps, close to the Swiss and Italian borders. It is situated at the confluence of the Arve and Sallanche rivers, between the Fiz and Aravis mountains and has a panoramic view of the Mont Blanc mountain range. Sallanches was entirely rebuilt during the 19th century and is noted for its neo-classical Sardinian style of architecture, colourful facades in pastel colours give it its unique appeal. Its large, weekly market held on Saturday mornings near an old covered granary, fairground and riverside promenade. In summer or winter the choice of activities is endless. From spring until autumn, hiking and mountain biking. There are lakes and rivers for all types of water sports such as rafting, canyoning or windsurfing and for those who prefer the quieter pastimes there are ideal fishing spots. In winter there is sking and walking in nearby Cordon, St Gervais, Combloux and Megeve.
